Oral Presentation Coaching

You've written your proposal, and now the purchaser has asked you to come and give your oral presentation. To win, you know the presentation must capture the critical elements of your proposal and present them in a dynamic and compelling way, but you're not sure how to begin.

Optimetra can help. Our approach is outlined below, including what we will do and why.

What: Revisit your proposal strategy and re-identify any purchaser "hot spots."
Why: So you communicate to the purchaser with confidence that you genuinely understand his needs and can deliver accordingly.

What: Help determine and develop the presentation theme.
Why: The presentation is severely time-restricted, and the purchaser is looking for a consistent message about why he should choose your company. Structuring the presentation elements around the central theme ensures the presentation is organized, consistent, and convincing.

What: Help determine and develop clear and effective visuals.
Why: The visuals you choose must dramatically drive home the points you want to make. With time restrictions, even one poorly-chosen visual is an opportunity wasted. When evaluating your strengths and benefits, the purchaser should remember how your visuals effectively illustrated these points.

What: Conduct presentation skills coaching sessions, including videotaping.
Why: An oral presentation is your opportunity to re-demonstrate your competitive advantages, but also to build trust and a sense of security. In a "live" setting, the purchaser will be looking for things he can't get from the proposal, such as personality traits and professionalism, that will help him decide if your company is a good "fit" for his organization. Optimetra will cover all of the skills necessary to make the best possible impression.

What: Facilitate and review presentation dry-runs.
Why: Practice, and only practice, makes perfect. Former Apple executive, Guy Kawasaki, asserts that most people need to practice about takes 25 times before they can effectively "give their pitch." We will coach these dry runs, videotaping the sessions and offering advice for quickly and confidently improving your staff's presentation skills.
